Engineering Manager - Site Reliability
Startup
Full Time
Remote (within EU & UK)
ABOUT THE COMPANY
A fast-growing, VC-backed European fintech building B2B payment infrastructure — corporate cards, credit lines, and embedded finance tools — for companies with complex spend-management needs. The platform serves thousands of business customers and partner platforms across Europe, giving them API-first tooling and credit flexibility to run payments without friction. The team operates with a flat structure, ships fast, and is increasingly building its own AI-native tooling into day-to-day engineering work.
REQUIREMENTS
- 7–10 years of engineering experience, including 3+ years directly managing engineers
- A track record of hiring and developing engineers, with specific people you've levelled or promoted
- Hands-on production or reliability engineering background — this isn't a first management role, and you've carried a pager yourself
- Strong cloud and infrastructure-as-code experience, comfortable working inside a managed IaC pipeline
- Experience building or running an on-call rotation and incident management process, not just participating in one
- Strong observability experience — you know the difference between a useful dashboard and a noisy one
- Clear communication for a technical, cross-team audience
- A track record of pushing reliability practice upstream into product teams rather than just reacting to incidents
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the framework other teams use to set their own service-level objectives and error budgets, educating and supporting them along the way
- Own blameless post-mortems and root-cause fixes — repeat incidents are treated as a process gap, not a signal about whoever was on call
- Put production readiness reviews in place so nothing new ships without one
- Close gaps in observability coverage: missing alerts, dashboard blind spots, and noisy pages that erode trust in on-call
- Build the reliability team from the ground up, setting the technical and cultural bar for everyone who joins after you
PERKS
- Choose your own equipment: Mac or Windows, whichever helps you do your best work
- A flat, low-bureaucracy culture with direct access to leadership
- Competitive compensation
- Fully remote, flexible working setup
- Room to shape a growing function and grow your own skills alongside it
- A monthly credit on the company's own card product, plus team meals with colleagues
